In the spring of 2019, Microsoft announced Microsoft Office 2013 client connections to Office 365 cloud services would lose support. The end of support will be October 13 of 2020. Below, our IT services team in San Diego explains the impact of this rapidly approaching deadline.
Office 13 Deadline
Once the deadline passes, commercial investments related to SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and OneDrive for Business or Office 365 cloud services will move forward in accordance with the requirements following those of Office 2013. These requirements will primarily be based on Office 365 ProPlus. Continuous support for Office 2019 and Office 2016 applications within Office 365 are available until the fall of 2023. Older MS Office clients will not be prevented from tapping into Office ’13 and ’10 then connecting to the Office 365 services. Legacy clients that attempt to tap into the updated cloud service might experience availability and performance problems. Furthermore, clients will risk compliance and security challenges that Microsoft probably won’t be able to rectify as the service will no longer be supported.
